Snerked from too many friends to count....

"Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than 15 minutes."

For my list, non-fiction is bolded because there's a lot of non-fiction on the list and most of them I expect will be unfamiliar to my Flist.

7.    The Road Through Miyama
8.    Carrying the Fire

1.    The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress
2.    Dark Sun
A history of the development of the hydrogen bomb, the first Soviet atomic bomb, and the politics surrounding both.
3.    The Civilization of the Middle Ages
Tells the history of the early Middle Ages from the point of view of the Church, and illustrates how the history of the period is the history of the Church and vice versa.
4.    Space Cadet
5.    Gödel, Escher, Bach
6.    Metamagical Themas
Two books on intelligence and it's nature, on philosophy and mathematics and their nature, and on the relationship between them all.
7.    The Road Through Miyama
An account by a gaijin of her apprenticeship to a Japanese master potter.
8.    Carrying the Fire
The autobiography of Apollo astronaut Micheal Collins.
9.    Apollo
A history of the Apollo program from the point of view of the men in Mission Control.
10.  A Degree of Mastery
An account by a bookbinder of her apprenticeship as a book restorer.
11.  Basin and Range
The first book of John McPhee's series on geologists and geology - crossing the US in the company of the former and exploring the impact of the latter on the history of the region.
12   Shogun
OK, this is a trashy book but it did ignite my ongoing interest in Japan.
13.  On Food And Cooking
Breaks down cookery and explains the chemistry and physics behind the mystique.  Not a lightweight book at all.
14.  True Love
Robert Fulghum (All I needed to know I learn in Kindergarten) tells love stories told to him by his readers.
15.  How Buildings Learn
The evolution of buildings after they're built, and how they adapt to the needs of their current occupants.
