Stepped outside last night and noticed the conditions were almost right for a shot I've been trying to get for months and months...  (As always clicky to make large!)

The moon in timed exposure

Usually the clouds are just zooming by, but last night they were crawling along...  This shot, representative of a series, didn't turn out too well because the moon was shining through a hole in the clouds - but in a moment conditions would change...

Patience, and freezing my ass off in the cold and the wind were finally rewarded as the clouds moved to obscure the moon... I'm still not getting the shot I'm seeing in my mind, but that may be as much due to the limits of my skill and equipment as to an overactive imagination.

Ok, after an hour or so outside a nice warm kitchen is starting to look awfully inviting!  (Even if it is a mess!)

After all that I rewarded myself with a nice hot mug of tea and a delectable selection of cookies.

Can't see it rise from the house... Was just outside having a smoke, and it still hasn't cleared the trees yet.

The clouds tonite are even more wonderful than last night, but they're really moving along. No way to capture them that won't be blurry as heck.

Great pics. Have you thought to post them on "naturesbeauty"? The people in that LJ community would appreciate them.

Very beautiful! I think the photos are fantastic. You do have an overactive imagination.

Nice. i actually like the one with the moon shining bright. If you shot it in raw i think changing the white balance might bring it more in line what your vision was. It looks a little bit on the warm side for the moon...

I'll give that a whirl. I haven't played with the RAW editor much.

But it won't create my vision which is to have both the moon and the clouds perfectly exposed. That's going to need HDR I suspect.
