Off all the memes that circulate around the net, this one (IMO) probably is one of the bigger pieces of bovine exhaust I've taken.

Why you ask? (Go ahead, I'll wait while you ask...) :)

I hate the current definition of 'nerd' as 'someone who has seen the right movies, owns the right toys, quotes the right lines, holds the right opinions, etc... etc... etc...'. When I was growing up nerd/geek meant someone interested in intellectual pursuits to the exclusion of others. Thus you had "computer nerds", "history geeks" and the like.

also now nerd implies a lack of social skills, geek implies knowledge/interest in "uncool" things 8)

i will refer to myself as a geek. nerd? is an insult 8)
