Progress is Being Made
Aug. 16th, 2007 11:36 amAfter several fits and starts, I sit here listening to the sounds of the workman taking up the carpet in the room upstairs. As anyone could have predicted, this whole process has taken longer than it might have, but we are finally into the homestretch.
The sorting went well I think. About a third of what was in the storage room ended up in the dumpster or is stacked to peddle at St. Vinnies or Goodwill. The amount of stuff we could not decide quite what to do with or where to put is comfortingly small. But in the next week or two we will have to make that decision - we're trying awful hard to clean up and pare down. It's taking real discipline to avoid just saying 'we have a bigger house, so why go to all the effort to get rid of stuff'. (Why? Because we are quasi-organized packrats. If we get rid of stuff now, we have longer before we have to do this again.)
