Unsurprising really, I've always been able to hear high pitched sounds - back when some stores used ultrasonic detectors to operate their automatic doors, I'd be nearly in physical pain in them.

some places in the UK they use devices that create HF noise to deter teens loitering about.

and had you heard that you can download a 'silent ring'? Meant for teens to use in situations when they are supposed to have their phones off, like in school. In theory, your teachers ears are too 'old' to hear the frequency. Though the teachers just out of college maybe can, so pay attention.
