Unsurprising really, I've always been able to hear high pitched sounds - back when some stores used ultrasonic detectors to operate their automatic doors, I'd be nearly in physical pain in them.

Or maybe you are a mosquito, you certainly can't be human. The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 21.1kHz |

In theory, your teachers ears are too 'old' to hear the frequency. Though the teachers just out of college maybe can, so pay attention.
