The unspoken subtext of course is "you folks who still have black-and-white TV's need to get with the program!".
We got our first color TV in 1972, IIRC specifically to watch the 1972 Summer Olympics live via satellite (another phrase that once meant something) from Munich, Germany. I remember Mark Spitz and Olga Korbut - but have dim memories of the Massacre. I think maybe my parents shielded us from that.

*sigh* I can't remember my live journal name and log in. It evidently is too different from what my first choice woulda been. Damn, now I don't know who I am.
