General comment: I should write more of these, especially as it's summer and we are often out and about doing interesting things.

Weather comment: 10AM and it's already 75 degrees in the house (and that's in the foyer which is the coolest room in the house), it's gonna be a scorcher today and the rest of the week will be worse according to the weather guessers.

Weekend wrapup:

Saturday - a day of shopping in Seattle and dealing with Seattle traffic. Picked up a few small bits and bobs at Woodcrafter and a couple of nice (if overpriced) pieces of wood. Crosscut Hardwood had some nice hard maple on sale, and I had to be restrained from filling the van. I'd hoped to pick up some cherry and walnut for some projects, but couldn't find any pieces I liked. Also hit REI and a couple of other places around Southcenter, then off to Tacoma and Trader Joe's.

Living on the peninsula is nice, but I'm glad we don't live in a really remote place. Having Seattle/Tacoma close enough to visit when desired sure is handy, but I'm very glad we don't actually live there.

Sunday - Matt came over to work in my shop. We got quite a bit done (though less than we hoped) before it got too hot in there to work. What's left on his project can be completed at his shop. To escape the heat we bobbed about in the pool for a couple of hours, then we all met Laura for dinner at the Whiskey Creek Ranch Grill in Poulsbo. (We were less than impressed, doubly so since their restaurant in Keyport has been well spoken of for many years.)

General comment: I've got some projects to do in the shop this week... But I'll have to concentrate on getting up early and getting out there before it gets too hot.

My sewing room is on the west side of the house, upstairs, so it's the hottest room in the house. I'm ok in there until about 2, then I have to retreat to cooler rooms.

The Original Whiskey Creek in Keyport is just a wonderful as it ever was.

Poulsbo Whiskey Creek Ranch Grill, not so much.

We are *really* glad we spent the extra money and added an air conditioner a few years ago when we replaced the furnace with a heat pump. We don't run it often, but this week it will make the difference between sleeping and not.
