Continuing the pernicious meme started by gwen_the_potter and krazyfiberkat...
This was high middle class fashion when I was ten years old... (As in "high fashion among the middle class", not "you had to be high to wear that stuff even if does seem so today".) I even had some clothes in that style and liked it. I really should scan in some of the pictures I have of me from that era, nobody today would believe the clothes I wore willingly!
But about my attempt to create a "Rhinestone Cowboy" outfit, the less said the better. I don't think there are any surviving pictures of that fashion disaster. (Crosses fingers.)
Of course, any moment now
hrollaug and
tradarcher will be along to explain how all they had were these newfangled inventions "stone knives" and "bearskins" and how they had to had to walk uphill both ways in six feet of snow to get them. And they _liked_ it! :) :) :)

Date: 2008-03-07 08:42 pm (UTC)Those new "stone knives" were dull. I just want to rip the skin off of the animal whose throat I ripped out with teeth.
And it wasn't six feet in snow uphill. It was 6o feet climbing, in a howling snowy gale, up a rock cliff. And we loved it.
And I should add we did it in our bare feet. Not this "shoes" nonsense
