Catching the shark.

You'll recall me publishing The Path last week, which reminded me that I wanted to get up to Hansville and catch it in fall colors... So, with the weather looking promising last Tuesday, I set the alarm how too dammed early and headed up - only to discover that the trees there hadn't started changing yet. I took advantage of the dawn light to play with 'ghost' images (long exposures with me in the frame for only part of the exposure), no keepers but some interesting results to keep in mind for the future.

I did take a few pictures of the path and came up with this:



Of course I discover this image the day *after* Halloween...

But after leaving the trail, I headed over to the little grocery store in Hansville, looked out across the water and caught this...



The boat started heading out of view to the east, and I hauled ass over to Point No Point (breaking the speed limit and risking my suspension on the speed bumps)... And caught her as she passed in front of a bank of mist on the Sound...



Didn't get the shot I wanted on the path, but I was richly rewarded for getting up at four thirty anyhow.

In other news, I no longer have a six month backlog of images... I sat down and started going through them and realized that what I really had was a six month backlog of not admitting to myself that there was nothing there.
