The Good: Progress in the workshop.
I finally admitted to myself how much a I positively loathe painting, and that it's my damn workshop and I don't care if it's painted or not. So Sunday I got out in the shop and with Brenda's help sorted and rearranged things so I can finish the ceiling and the remaining wall panels.
The Bad: Condition of workshop fixtures.
Part of rearranging involved moving my workbench and main shelving unit from one end of the shop to the other. The workbench didn't take to this too well... I knew it was poorly built (I didn't know much when I built it), but was shocked at how fast it's coming apart. It should (cross fingers) still however last another couple of years. The real problem is the storage shelves, which have warped and gone all wobbly. I can kludge some fixes, but will have to live with them for a long time as once the toolboxes are sorted and loaded and in place they're going to be very heavy and very troublesome to remove. I could replace them, but that will put other projects and commissions even further behind.
The Ugly: Broken window mechanism in the van.
Friday we decided to head up to Emperor's Palace for dinner, and when we got in the van we found the passenger side window had fallen halfway down and that the switch would neither raise nor lower it... and attempts to fix it resulted in it going all the way down. Worse yet, when you try and use the switch it sounds like there's a coffee grinder running inside the door. We took it to the dealer and I'm awaiting their call with trepidation.
