Musical Monday
Aug. 6th, 2007 09:35 amOn her LJ Ellen (
the_thread_lady) posted of her preparations for her and Ralph's twentieth anniversary as a couple... so this weeks Musical Monday is a medley of songs from 1987 in tribute to them!
First up - a classic piece of 80's cheese; Tiffany!
No less cheesy, we continue with Belinda 'I do so have enough talent to have a solo career' Carlisle with her one hit wonder...
One hit wonders I can work into the theme just abound in 1987's top songs...
Wow... as I look at a list of top songs from 1987, there is a lot of cheesey love songs...
So let's mix it up with a little cheese that's not a love song! (Scans list...) Ah, about as cheesy as you can get, the Bangles with "Funky Tut", I mean "Walk like an Egyptian"!
If this journal is rockin' don't be knockin'!
Classic rockin' and rollin' with Bob Seger, Huey Lewis & The News, and a little more cheese with the one hit wonder Wang Chung...
Let's slow it down and bring it on home now...
For a fellow pair of SF enthusiasts, I can't resist including this song for the band's name if nothing else! T'pau with the very on theme song "Heart and Soul"...
1987 also saw a tribute to one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all times, who has a number of love songs of very own under his belt - Smokey Robinson. Here is ABC with "When Smokey Sings":
I'll close out this weeks show/tribute with what I think is one of the classic rock and roll love song of all time - coincidentally also from 1987:
Congratulations Ralph and Ellen!
