Catch up post - Life

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, so it's time for a quick catch-up on some of the highlights...

• We went over to Seattle for the Smokin' in Seattle EGGfest. A whole day of hanging out with fellow eggers and sampling many fine dishes cooked on the Egg.


• While there, we went over to Ikea and bought a new set of dinner dishes. We've been looking for a while now to replaces the mish-mash of pieces we've accumulated over the years... We were in Ikea a couple of months back, and saw two sets we liked but couldn't decide between. This time we got it down to one set, and I started to walk away because changing stuff that's been a part of our daily life for two decades is a Big Deal for me sometimes. (Especially when some of that stuff was a wedding gift.) Brenda insisted we go ahead and cut to the chase and buy the set, and so we did. We'll save one piece in our keepsake cabinet, one set of bowls will go into the RV, and the rest is undecided yet.


• We also quietly celebrated our 22nd anniversary... I know I missed my annual post on the topic, but so it goes. We've never made a big deal out of it.


• While grilling steak for our anniversary dinner, Brenda decided I had to re-create a pose in a picture she took of me when I was grilling steak on our honeymoon... now I've got to dig the old one out of storage and see how close we got.


• Speaking of photography, I haven't been able to get out much and have been starting to feel the itch in the last week or so. I'm still hung up on processing and posting the June Faire photographs - but I'm sticking to my vow to process and post in the order they were taken.

And now... for the less good news...

Little Missy (one of our guinea pigs for you new folks) has been losing weight lately, and we've found a lump in her neck. Even with hand feeding, her weight is still less than optimal... and the vet feels that with her size (she's always been a very small pig) and weight loss she's a poor candidate for surgery. Caramel lost almost 250 grams in the weeks following surgery, and Missy only weighs 600 to start with... her chances for recovery are very, very slim. We just don't know what to do at this point. I don't know if I can take another loss so soon.

Sorry about little Missy. That sort of stuff is hard because not everybody understands.

Do you have an Egg? Cause if so, I'm jealous!!!! Someday when I have so expendable income I would love to purchase one. We flat out don't have a grill right now and it's killing me. What dishes did you enjoy most at the festival?

And lastly Happy Anniversary! I just celebrated 2 months, haha! :)

It's doubly hard because we lost Caramel (another of our pigs) last year, and we've had two [human] deaths in the family this year plus other assorted Bad Stuff. Just don't need any more bad news.

Yes, I have an Egg and I *love* it. Hands down, the grill roasted tri-tip, because (with my Lady's hearty agreement) that's what I grilled the next day for our anniversary. :) Then there were the bacon wrapped tater tots, or the smoke roasted fingerling potatoes, or..., I could go on. It was all danged good.

I don't know how I'd live without a grill, even an el cheap wally world special.

There's an Egg fest coming up in Winston in Aug (I was daydreaming about going)...

Crossing fingers for Little Missy, and keeping you and Brenda and her in my thoughts. It's really hard when the animals we love get sick and/or old :(.
