Just out of curiosity, I blended the two images above, very interesting I think:

Very cool! I like the blended image the best. It and the black and white photo allow the performer to take center stage. It's so interesting how different the three images are.

The blended and the mono version are getting all the love on Flickr too... I think you've nailed it on the head, in the color version the performer blends too much into the background.
